Sally Foster Fall Gift Wrap
This is the first fundraiser of the year. Committee needs to organize
event during the summer. Contact representative, distribute catalogs and
order forms, collect and verify orders and money collected, and track
sales. Chairperson acts as liaison between school and company.
Classroom Liaisons/Room Parents
Each Liaison/Room Parent will assist each chairperson for our various
committees by contacting the parents of that class to remind them of
upcoming deadlines. (Example: contacting parents for the raffle ticket or
wrapping paper deadlines, organizing various activities with the teacher,
organizing bake sale participation, and a variety of other activities.)
PTO Membership Committee
This committee is responsible for recruiting members to the
organization. The chairperson will be responsible for organizing an
information table at several school functions throughout the year,
starting with the new parent orientation scheduled for August 9th, 2005 at
7:00 p.m. and the Headmaster’s Reception scheduled for August 19th, 2005
at 7:00 p.m.
Teacher Appreciation Committee
This committee is responsible for planning and coordinating the events
and items that will show our appreciation for our wonderful staff at All
Angels Academy. The teacher appreciation week is scheduled for the week of
May 1st 2006.
Publicity Committee
This committee is responsible for publicizing the events of All Angels
Academy (The Gazette, Neighbors section of the Miami Herald) and providing
updates for the PTO website.
Square 1 Art
This is new for the 2005/2006 school year. We hope it to be a fun fall
fundraiser. This committee needs to coordinate closely with the teachers
to ensure each student completes an artistic masterpiece per the
guidelines by the to-be-determined deadline. The company will convert this
artwork into a free magnet to accompany a catalog/orderform that allows
All Angels Families to send truly unique gifts this year. If you are
artistically inclined - please join this committee.
Canned Food Drive/Turkey Bingo
This committee is responsible for our November Food drive - one of our
community service projects. This year we’d like to combine it with a fun
social activity. This committee will need to organize a bingo night.
Prizes (i.e. Turkeys and pies and other fall-oriented items) need to be
solicited in addition to some cash prizes to be given. A dry goods or
canned food item along with an entry fee will be required to play bingo.
Additionally, collection containers within the classrooms should be
provided. The event should be publicized throughout the school and notices
sent out to the families. Coordination with a community organization for
sending/picking up the collected items will be required.
Recognition
This committee will be responsible for obtaining the Merit Awards from
each classroom teacher. Merit Awards (new this year) will recognize
students whom exemplify a particular quality which will change monthly.
The committee will be responsible for creating the certificates and
presenting the awards at the monthly PTO meeting.
Operation Christmas Child
Another community project, this committee will be responsible for
collecting shoe-box size boxes filled with items for children in need. The
committee must begin organizing in November, advertise the event
throughout the school and collect the boxes. It must coordinate with the
organization the receipt of information packets and present information at
the November PTO meeting.
World’s Finest Chocolate
This committee is responsible for organizing the sale of the World’s
Finest Chocolate bars. The chairperson contacts our local representative
and schedules dates of arrival and amount of chocolate bars. The committee
tracks the sales of each student and class as well as the distribution of
all boxes.
Breakfast with Santa
This is one of the most fun and most successful fundraising events of
the PTO. The committee oversees the organization of this event. Each
member of the committee would be responsible for a specific task relating
to the event - for example, raffle tickets, breakfast food donations,
raffle prize donations, pictures with Santa, decorations, etc.
Scholastic Book Fairs
The PTO holds Scholastic book fairs throughout the year. The committee
must contact the company, schedule times, advertise, set up and shut down,
coordinate operating hours and volunteer coverage, track sales, etc. This
event directly benefits our library thru the earning of book credits that
allow us to purchase new materials for the library.
Yearbook Sponsorship
This committee will work with and support the teacher/students
responsible for the yearbook. They will be responsible for selling
advertisements or announcements in the yearbook - both to parents and
local businesses.
Spring Festival/Event
This committee will be responsible for planning a Spring-time PTO
sponsored event. This event may be similar to the Festival in previous
years that involved a simple carnival or something else entirely, but
should be FUN. If you have a wild imagination - this may be for you.
Spaghetti Dinner
This event is held in conjunction with the annual circus. The committee
is responsible for positing sign-up sheets for food donations and
volunteers, ordering tables and chairs, coordinate the setting up of tent,
advertising the event and selling tickets.
Halloween Spooktacular
This event directly supports the 8th Grade annual class trip. This
committee will work closely with the middle school students and staff in
supporting the carnival-type event. They will need to solicit donations of
prizes, creation of carnival events and support any sundry of activities.
Santa Shoppe
This event also directly supports the 8th Grade class trip. The
committee will be responsible for contacting the organization,
establishing timelines, setting up the Shoppe, organizing with teachers
for bringing children to the Shoppe, advertising and sending information
to parents, and staffing. The Shoppe is open for Breakfast with Santa as
well as during designated times throughout the week preceding or following
the breakfast.
Buddy System
New this year, the PTO is striving to provide a huge welcome and a
comfort level for all new families. Thus, we are requesting returning
families to consider volunteering to serve as a mentor for one new family.
The chairperson for this committee needs to contact the PTO board during
the summer and coordinate the matching of old and new families. Though
seemingly simple, this committee could have the biggest impact on the
success of our organization.
New PK/Elementary Movie Night
This committee will coordinate a movie night for all new students to PK
and Elementary that will coincide with the new parent orientation
(scheduled for August 9th, 2005 at 7:00 p.m.) This year’s theme is jungle
and Jungle Book will be shown. The committee will be responsible for
providing a simple snack and welcoming new students. Returning families
are welcome to attend to add warmth to the welcome. It is a great
opportunity for new students to meet fellow students so there will be a
friendly and recognizable face the first day of school. Please contact
Suzy at (305) 871-5313 if interested in helping with this event.
