created, "Are You Smarter Than A Christmas Angel?."

Breakfast with Santa
Another successful "Breakfast with Santa." School and community alike
celebrated our first Christmas activity of the season. We served breakfast
to approximately 300 people. Our elementary and middle school students
provided the choral accompaniment. Many thanks to Mrs. Heilbron, our music
teacher, who works so diligently with our students. Mr. and Mrs. Claus and
the Christmas elf were on hand for photos. Our librarian, Mrs. Mayer,
organized a wonderful and very successful book fair. Chef Ray and his crew
organized a delicious buffet breakfast and nobody burned the bacon this
year (Yes, it was I who set off the smoke detector last year). Raisa
Schubert, our committee chairperson, and her staff organized a wonderful
event for the school and we thank her.
All Angels Singers
Our PK3, PK4 and Kindergarten classes sang their little hearts out at
the Miami Springs Gazebo later that evening. Their voices rang clear and
sweet!

Make-A-Bookmark Contest!
Our library is teaming up with Miami Dade County Public library system
for another great project. This time it's the Make-A-Bookmark contest.
Students are asked to design a bookmark using the theme, "I Spy A Great
Book @ my Library." The winner will have their design used as the official
2008 MDPLS bookmark. Good luck to all!
Thanks for a Wonderful Breakfast!
Many thanks to Mrs. Salas, Mrs. Mora, Mother Keedy and Natalie Daniels
for organizing our grandparents breakfast. Grandparents and grandchildren
alike enjoyed a wonderful continental breakfast before starting their day.
Florida Council of Independent Schools
The faculty and staff attended classes on November 16th. The Florida
Council of Independent Schools, who I am proud to say we are accredited
by, held their national convention in Miami this year. We explored new
products on the market and attended many useful workshops.
Red Ribbon Week / Miami Springs K9
Red Ribbon Week at All Angels was both informational and alarming. The
children made tombstones for various personalities or family members who
are no longer with us do to alcohol or drug related deaths. They placed
the tombstones in our courtyard and it was sad to be reminded of the
wasted lives. The Miami Springs K9 unit also paid us a visit to explain
their program. We thank them for taking the time to instruct our children.
2009 Inauguration Trip Registration
Registration is now open for our Inauguration trip in 2009. This is a
great opportunity for our children to be a part of history. Depending on
how the elections go, this truly could be a historical event. This is
available to students in grades 4-7. Our Annual Fund Campaign Drive is
under way. Please take a moment to review the paperwork sent to you and
give generously. Remember tuition does not cover the entire cost of
educating your child. We want to provide them with more than just reading,
writing and arithmetic. Thank you for your support.
Proud Principal!
I am as proud as a peacock sure. First, Christine Alpizar in grade 7
won the "poster for peace" contest sponsored by the Miami Springs Lions
Club. Check out the River Cities Gazette, dated 11-15 for a detailed
article on the event. Second, our soccer team is undefeated at this time
with a 3-0 standing. And third, our student body prepared 112 boxes for
Operation Christmas Child.
Are You a Decorater?
Do you like to decorate? Are you Martha Stewart in training? It is not
too early to begin preparations for our Silver Ball and Silent Auction.
Ana Cruz is our event coordinator and Rhonda Calvert is chairing the
silent auction. Please contact Ana @ 305-788-5540 if you are interested.
By the way...you can get those valuable volunteer hours also!!
Congratulations!
Congratulations to Abigail in grade 2! She is going to the Hannah
Montana concert. Hers was the lucky number pulled in our PTO raffle ticket
contest. Just think, thousands of screaming girls! I have not been that
fortunate since I took my daughter to see New Kids on the Block at Joe
Robbie stadium when she was nine. Oh, to be young!!

Congratulations!
Congratulations to our soccer team!! All Angels won 3-2. We played St.
Paul Lutheran School on a very windy, rainy afternoon. Our next game is
Wednesday, November 7th. Team members include Jonathan Diaz, Daniel
Rangel, Kyle Safreed, Jenecil Villar, Michael Garcia, Alan Ganan, Andrew
Moro, Adrian Alvarez, Matthew Cimadevilla, Ernesto Helms, Arturo Soto,
Daniel Tilton and Christian Miranda. GO ANGELS!
Spooktacular!
A great time was had by one and all yesterday during our Halloween
Spooktacular. We began the day with the Preschool/Kindergarten Halloween
Fashion Show. The audience viewed the latest Halloween fashions direct
from Transylvania. The children went trick or treating and then our
students enjoyed a "spooktacular" haunted house sponsored by our talented
Student Council. As a special treat the faculty performed the "zombie
dance" from Michael Jackson's thriller video. Are you old enough to
remember that incredible piece of cinema photography? We had a blast
trying to get his moves down. Now the students know their teachers have a
sense of humor!
Dates to Remember in November!
• Nov. 8th: Grandparents Breakfast 7:30-8:15AM
• Nov. 8th: First grading period ends

Grab a Cup of Coffee...
Grab a cup of coffee and let me bring you up to date! My mom was right,
the older you get the faster times flies. I can't believe we are
approaching the end of October already.
Peace Around the World
We are proud to have the Miami Springs Lion Club of Miami Springs
sponsor our children in the "Peace Around the World" contest. Our children
join children from around the world in sharing their visions of world
peace. Children ages 11 through 13 are creating a poster to visually
communicate the theme, "Peace Around the World". The judging takes place
November 6th. I'll keep you posted.
School Newsletter
We now have a school newsletter emailed to our parents every Friday. It
contains all the latest and greatest information on the Academy. If you
would like to receive our newsletter, please provide the school office
with your email address.
Halloween Spooktacular
Our Halloween Spooktacular is gearing up to be loads of fun! We have a
pumpkin carving contest followed by a dessert contest. Pumpkins need to be
at school on 10-30 and the desserts on 10-31. Halloween day starts off
with the preschool/kindergarten fashion show. Be in the church by 8:45 to
view this year's latest fashions. The rest of the day is filled with
activities sponsored by our very own student council. Look for spooky
stories, simple games and a hay ride in the pumpkin patch. All classes
will trick or treat around the school. Martin Hall gets a face lift as a
haunted house and the middle school students will party the afternoon away
at the dance. Happy Halloween and remember to stay safe.
Middle School Golf Team
The middle school golf team has one more match to go in their first
year of competition. They have done very well, playing Gulliver Academy,
University School, Ransom Everglades and Belen Jesuit. They also have
plans to play in the Dade County Youth Fair Tournament in April.
Members of the golf team include Daniel Rangel, David DePablo, Alan
Ganan, Demos Karantsalis, and Kyle Safreed. The elementary golf team had a
great year also. They are planning an end of the year tournament in
November. I am very proud of our alumni student, Kalyn Safreed. Kalyn
attended All Angels Academy from 1999 to 2006. As a member of our first
middle school team, Kalyn is now a Sophomore at Miami Springs Senior High
School. She placed first in the district championships and second in
regional's. Now she joins her team in the state championships October
30-31 in Lakeland, Florida. Good Luck Kalyn!!
Silver Ball and Silent Auction
It's not too soon to begin thinking about our Silver Ball and Silent
Auction on February 9th. Ana Cruz is event chairperson and Rhonda Calvert
is our auction coordinator. If you have business or personal connections
with anyone willing to make a donation, please let us know. It is easier
to request items from someone you know, than to cold call from a list of
possibilities. We are looking for trips, gift certificates, rental
properties or any other items you think people would be willing to bid on.
Wish List
The school has a wish list for your perusal. We have large items like a
new basketball court right down to smaller items like sand and grass for
our play areas. The classroom teachers also have wish lists for their
rooms. Please take a look and I thank you in advance for your generosity.
Teen Read Week
Our student body is immersed in "Teen Read Week". Rita Mayer, our
librarian, is tracking our readers as they vie for a new ipod.
Student Council
May I introduce our student council:
• President - Onima Heilbron
• Vice President - Luis Zubieta
• Treasurer - Karina Heilbron
• Secretary - Daniel Tilton
• Grade seven representative - Arianna Martinez-Fort
• Grand six representative - Kyle Safreed
Congratulations
Congratulations to Ernesto Helms from grade seven. He won first place
in the NFL "Punt, Pass and Kick Competition". The competition was held at
the Dolphin Training Facility. The championship round of the competition
will be held on December 2nd during the half time festivities at the
Dolphins football game.
Congratulations to Arturo Soto from eighth grade. Arturo has been
selected to attend the People to People World Leadership Forum in
Washington D.C. from October 22nd to October 26th.
Hispanic Heritage Celebrations
Hispanic Heritage celebrations provided the staff and student body with
a wealth of information about other countries. We enjoyed student
performances in dance and drama. The youngest children gave us a history
lesson in how Columbus accidentally "bumped" into the America's. The food
was the best of all. I made sure to canvas the table, sampling all matter
of delicacies. I needed to make sure the food was safe and edible!! I even
made myself a doggie bag for dinner.
Annual Blessing of the Animals
The four legged crowd was well behaved for our annual blessing of the
animals. Mother Keedy sprinkled all matter of creature with a little holy
water for good measure. The canines were happy to be there, while the
felines took a dim view of the whole affair.
All Angels Episcopal Church 50th Anniversary
September brought the 50th Anniversary celebration of All Angels
Episcopal Church. Each class performed a song from the 1950's. You haven't
lived until you've seen a five year old sing Splish, Splash. The house
rocked, in American Bandstand tradition, to the sounds of Yackety Yack,
Great Balls of Fire, Hound Dog, The Hop, Johnny B. Good, Papa Loves Mambo
and Shout. Elvis had all the young girls swooning in the aisles and the
malt shop supplied guests with hamburgers, hot dogs and root beer floats.
